Iraq's poppy growers choosing pot instead of opium

Imagine, as John Lennon used to say. Just imagine if pot were legal. Could it help desperate Iraqi farmers create their own form of a "green economy"? NPR reports on the shift from opium growing to the cultivation of cannabis in Iraq, and it presents some interesting economic aspects of life there. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=19336834

Can't blame them there. The war has so destabilized their ability to earn a living, much like the poor state of our economy, that dealing in buzz is a great way to supplement one's income.

I hope they don't shut down poppy production totally, both plants are of great use to mankind and should be nurtured.

As usual, Marijuana saves the day. ;-]_~
